Duke Nukem Forever vs Serious Sam

The Duke story is well known, so here's Sam's story.
In a way, they're a study in contrasts. Team Duke Nukem Forever was flush with cash, development went through engine after engine, pissing away money for what they wanted to do.
While Serious Sam operated on a shoestring budget, and built their own in house engine to do what no other engine at the time could manage (Wide open spaces, hundreds of sprites at once..)
I never liked Serious Sam, but you have to admire them for what they accomplished. If only the same discipline existed behind Duke..
