Why didn't the Emperor keep the droid army active??
Is there a reason why Palpatine didn't keep the droid army up and running after he established the Empire, and just adjust their programming to Imperial standards or whatever?
Seems like adding the millions upon millions of droids in the Separatist army to his ranks would have made his Empire truly unbeatable. 😕
Because droid armies aren’t that effective. Basic Trooper to Basic Battle Droid, the Trooper has a lot more advantages compared to the advantages that droids have. Plus you are then going to have to make resources and the like to keep the droids maintained among other things.
That and the general populace wouldn’t exactly be behind a droid army since that had been their enemy.
Right they're mostly fodder in comparison to trained clones or whatever, but there are still hundreds of millions of them at the very least. Seems like that would have made him nearly unbeatable.
And didn't the Emperor pretty much stop caring what the galaxy at large thought of his methods? That's why he dissolved the Senate and made the Death Stars.
No, the Emperor didn't "stop caring". He always cared. Heck, the entire reason he created the Death Stars was to incite fear into the populace in an attempt to stop rebellion. A droid army would backfire in this regard as it would more likely incite rebellion rather than suppress it. It's not like he needed more troops anyways.
