F*cking hell. Forgot all about that one. 😘
Lucky you 😛
Oh, Norman in TASM 2 was awful, too. Even though he only had a cameo 😐
Topher Grace as Venom]/b] in Spiderman 3. Eddy is portrayed in the 616 as a down and out loser barely clinging to opportunity, and at first clings to the Symbiote and gradually adjusts to becoming the vengeful antihero we know today. In Spiderman 3 he’s just a plot device to utilize in a massive fight, who magically appears at the church he gains the Symbiote at the same time Peter is there. It’s terribly written, Topher doesn’t have the desperation that necessitates a portrayal of Venom, and his role is just shoehorned in
Jesse Eisenberg as [b]Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice
I always have seen Jesse as a perfectly capable supporting Role, or even a capable leading role in indie films. But for some reason Warner assumes he’d be capable of assuming the mantle of Supermans most famous human nemesis. He’s some insanely socially awkward twenty something Hipster spouting Edgy pseudo-iconoclast Snyderisms. I’ll never forget the shitty Jolly Ranger scene, and thinking’s “What the ****???”. When I saw him trying to be some existential threat in The hastily constructed 3rd act, he was a twitchy spazz with edgy dialogue and nothing more
Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf in Justice League
I’m assuming hastily thrown together rewrites made Step there big bad in Justice League? Not only is he a C-lister but the accumulation of the various heroes to become the league had absolutely no sort of logic. Batman just assumed they needed to come together in shit flashback sequences, and this could’ve been done better in a myriad of different ways. Steppenwolf isn’t threatening in any fashion, whether it’s the forgettable flashbacks of him killing fodder, his laughable moments calling a mother box mommy, or him ultimately being a punching bag to a resurrected Superman. His horrendous CGI is the stuff of memes and he’s ultimately more forgettable in what’s supposed to be DC’s flagship Superhero team movie
Christopher Eccleston as Malekith Thor: Dark World
In the various runs I’ve read in Thor comics Malekith has been portrayed as a master manipulator and gatherer of forces for his particular ends against Asgard. In TDW he’s neither threatening nor particularly intelligent in how he allows Thor’s significant other to gather the Aether, and gets his ass kicked by Frigga in the process. I’m really not sure why Feige wasted a villain who is more of a mastermind/general to be some generic baddy with an axe to grind against Odin. He’s super generic and never really rises to the capabilities of what the villain has shown in the comics
James Spader as Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ultron is usually seen as an arch villain with lineage ties to Hank Pym and as such has strong ties to the Avengers. But in this iteration is just some unintended side effect of an AI gone be rogue in Age of Ultron. Instead of a Vibranium Coated AI super robot we get a quip rehashing CGzo monstrosity, who jobs to getting his ass kicked by Captain America, having the most generic villain motivations, and never assuming a massive existential threat to the Avengers. He’s laughable compared to his comics iteration and is super underutilized to what he could be
Tom Hardy as Bane The Dark Knight Rises
Bane is a master of prep and a consummate martial artist. But here he is some wheezing idiot subject to the whims of Talia Al Ghul. To Nolan’s credit he gives Bane some memorable dialogue, but apart from the word choice the breaking of Batman comes across as undeserved. Bruce is hesitant Batman in this universe and Bane never shows the feats of strength from his Venom addiction in the comics. It’s not so much a miscasting as a Much Too grounded role

Wasnt a fan of this.
This just smacked of the Director thinking he's oh so clever. See The last Jedi for another example.
Also I'll never forget the audience reaction when I saw the BVS Jolly Rancher scene in theatres. The unintentional laughter and air of WTF was palpable.
