Luke's green saber??

Never thought about updating, but this has been definitively answered in canon...

Luke created his green kyber crystal in Star Wars v2 #35:
[...]
*The kyber started off clear, but became green after Luke connected with it -- he essentially 'reverse-bled' the thing.

Luke later constructed his lightsaber hilt in a cave on Tatooine, just before he rescued Han in RotJ... Which fully canonizes this deleted scene from the film:

*All of the above was confirmed in the most recent Character Encyclopedia, btw:

Well at least that's been answered.

Still wish he would have used Qui-Gon or even Yoda's crystal, though. Would have been a cool homage to previous masters.

^ Qui-Gon's or Yoda's kyber would have been cool, but wouldn't have worked as well in the context of the story.

All the effort Luke put into finding his own kyber and reverse-bleeding it, gleaned him a series of invaluable lessons that he otherwise would not have discovered had he just recycled someone else's crystal.

Yeah, honestly I'm happy with the path the comics ended up taking. Having Luke actually have to struggle and strive for the crystal he used in his lightsaber instead of just being gifted it meant he got to have a meaningful arc through the comics. There's some poetry to the idea of him having Qui-Gon's crystal, but I'd take a well-written character arc over a character being gifted progress on a silver platter any time.

Agreed. It was much better than Luke just taking someone elses kyber or creating a synthetic one.
