novels canon or not

Sure this is been asked before but I need some clarification. 1-6 novels canon or not I've heard people say it's the only canon when it's explicitly shown on screen (basically meaning it's irrelevant whether it's canon or not), I've heard some say that it's canon as long it's doesn't contradict the movie which would make most of the novel canon? I've also heard people say they're not canon at all. Very confusing.

Del Rey sad that they are canon back in 2014 except for the parts that contradict the movies. Matt Martin recently edorsed the same stance.

The episode I-VI novelizations are only canon where they align with what's on screen. Any bits that contradict the films are non-canon.

So would something like them explaining what's going through their head or something like Yoda disarming be canon Sidious as long as it doesn't contradict what we're exactly seeing on screen or does have to be seen on the screen?

Matt Martin implies the opposite actually.

damn, this website's image formatting is all over the place :/

What were you trying to post? It looks like it was a link to a file on your personal computer, not something on the internet. This website (or any website, actually), can't post images that aren't publicly on the internet.

I was trying to post images of Matt Martin's tweets.

Fixed your images.
