I'm still not entirely sold on this tough. The game's story is very generic and only works as well as it does because it is a game. This allows you to be Joel and connect more with the characters than if you were merely watching it which adds another layer of separation. As a TV show I'd imagine it loses that and becomes just another generic zombie show. But I guess we'll see.

Except for the whole 20 year span of events that they could write anything they wanted for that's only covered by a couple of references in the game with regards to what Joel did between Sarah being killed and meeting Ellie.

The real tragedy is that if this show dies well, which it almost certainly will, they’re gonna adapt the dog shit sequel video game.

Answer: No. One doesn’t need to have played the video game to enjoy the show. However, the Last of Us is a magnificent 10/10 video game experience.

Good premiere. I loved that they used the main theme from the game as the opening theme.

Never played the game and know almost nothing about it expect the basic "creature survival" theme, but the first episode was pretty good and I'm someone who tends to not enjoy shows or movies based of video games as they're almost always subpar to outright shit.

Bella Ramsey has Ellie's attitude and mannerisms down pat. She just doesn't look like Ellie. Pascal not so much for Joel. The Sarah death scene was far more impactful in the game.

The look of the safe zone is very much spot on with the game and I'm liking a lot of the lifting of little bits of dialogue and details from the games too.

Very impressed so far though. Although I read that they've changed the spores problem to something else to avoid characters having to wear gas masks a lot and the lack of realism from the games that has spores confined to single rooms without them escaping when in reality they'd be everywhere.

My wife brought my tablet for me to watch it in my hospital bed.

The surgery went well and I’m slowly recovering. Quadruple bypass.
