The limit of lightsabers?

Aside from lightning, what is the most powerful force a lightsaber has repelled? What forces can't they repel?

About the things they can't repel, I think they can't block sonic weapons like those of the geonosians

They can't repel sonic weapons, they can't repel bullets/slugs, rockets/missiles obviously. Arrows, acid, not sure of others atm.

I didn't mean repel as in bounce back at the target. I just meant block.

So what is the most powerful force they have blocked, and what forces cant they block?

Oh in that case, they can't block sonic weapons, missiles/rockets, acid weapons, nets.

Most powerful thing that's been blocked? Not sure apart from Force Lighting.

This always stands out:

As for what they can't block: aside from what Zen mentioned, there was a reference to sabers not being able to block flames in canon. Don't know if that was also the case in Legends, though.

Ah yeah, can't block flame weapons.

Oh strongest thing at least in Legends anyway, Luke blocks Turbolaser fire. Vader does too I believe.

I don't get why they cant block flame weapons. How is that any different then the other stuff they can block?

Like don't they focus the lightning into their sabers? Why not just do that with fire??

They should be able to. It's just a cheap plot device.

When?

I think the "Lightsabers: A Guide to Weapons of the Force" book (well, pamphlet, really) says something about how the lightsaber is just plasma trapped in between a magnetic field that's roughly the shape of a blade. That's why you can hold it close to you without getting burnt. And the "training" lightsabers have such a strong magnetic field that you don't get burnt even if you do get touched.

By that logic, lightsabers should only be able to block other things surrounded by magnetic fields, like blaster bolts, force-fields, other lightsabers, etc., plus anything they can burn through, like bullets and slugs. Lightning, I imagine just gets grounded to a lightsaber as to a lightning rod.

So they shouldn't be able to block anything that's not one of the above.

For Luke? Dark Empire when squaring off against an X-80 Turbolaser equipped AT-AT.

A bit I goofed I think, thought it was a Turbolaser, but it was just a laser cannon emplacement.
