So were the injuries caused by the train? Why wasn't there a report as soon as he was hit? Only after someone finds him on the side of the tracks.

No, you'd see evidence of death from other causes if he was beaten prior to being moved to the tracks. If he was beaten to death, he'd have to be beaten to death minutes before the train hit him to cover up the tracks (no pun intended).

Even then, the beating would have to be done with something that would match the forensic profile of being hit by a train. They signs on the body, superficially and internally, that indicate with which type of object a person was harmed.

Also, if he was poisoned, it would show up in a toxicology report as long as samples were taken and tested quickly enough. That does not preclude the possibility of "super killer" poisons that quickly clear the system, as well as their metabolites, within minutes of killing the victim. Those things do exist.
