If you question if a close person has coronavirus due to some apparent symptoms (which may be allergies)to err on the side of caution, is it malicious or spiteful to ask said person?

depends on how you're asking, probably

In a casual and nonchalant manner. No attitude, but a general inquiry

it's an unanswerable question unfortunately. even if this person has covid, they probably have no sure way of knowing due to test shortage. but if you have to be in close proximity to them, they should say "no" or"idk" and deal with it

Agreed.

Corona has so many symptoms however, the way to tell is if they present diarrhea along with a flu.
