How did non-clone commanders react to Order 66?

In the Republican Army many people commanders were humans/aliens and not clones. Has it ever been explored, in Legends or Canon, how they reacted when the clones started shooting to the Jedi out of nowhere?

I assume the huge majority of non-clone personnel believed Palpatine's story: that the Jedi went rogue and attempted to overtake the Republic by force.
