William Hartmann, the Republican member of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers who made national headlines for initially refusing to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election, died Tuesday following a battle with COVID-19. Douglas Reimel, Hartmann's friend, shared the news on Facebook, and others who knew Hartmann offered their condolences online. Hartmann was 63.

Hartmann's fight with COVID-19 landed him in the ICU, where he was on a ventilator, according to Elizabeth Hartmann, his sister. He was hospitalized at Wyandotte Hospital, according to Reimel. Hartmann was an avid supporter of Trump and garnered national attention when he joined Monica Palmer, the former Republican chair of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers, in voting against certifying the county's votes in the 2020 presidential election.

Eric Metaxas has hosted prominent anti-vaxxers, included the star of the QAnon film "Plandemic" on his radio show.

On March 28th, he Tweeted, "Don't get the vaccine. Pass it on."

That Tweet has mysteriously vanished, after explaining his two-week absence from his radio program for having COVID:

Lorenzo Damiano led protests by anti-vaxxers and COVID deniers in Treviso near Venice against the Green Pass health certificate and stood as a "Nuremberg #2" candidate in a nearby mayoral contest saying that vaccine skeptics were being treated like Holocaust victims.

But after his recent spell in intensive care, Damiano told reporters, "After this period, I now have a different vision of the world, and I'm going to get vaccinated."

An Italian man is facing charges of fraud after turning up for his COVID-19 vaccine wearing a fake arm. So determined was he to dodge the jab but still obtain a health pass, the anti-vaxxer may have paid hundreds of euros for the silicone prosthetic.

A top nurse at a Columbia skilled nursing and rehabilitation center has been indicted on federal charges of creating false COVID-19 vaccination cards.

Tammy McDonald, 53, a registered nurse and director of nursing at the rehabilitation center, also lied to agents with the FBI and U.S. Health and Human Services Department when confronted about the false cards, an indictment in the case said.

The rehabilitation center was not identified in the indictment, which was unsealed and made public Thursday morning. McDonald was indicted by the federal grand jury on November 23rd.

A 23-year-old man released from prison in April after doing time for possessing child pornography may have added another dubious achievement to his sick résumé.

Amar Salim Shabazz has been charged with purchasing and distributing fake coronavirus vaccine cards to enrich himself, according to a criminal complaint unsealed in federal court Friday. The Maryland man was allegedly not shy about his scheme, either.

"I SELL PROOF OF VACCINATION CARDS," he commented under an Instagram post about bars and restaurants requiring guests to show proof of vaccination cards, the criminal complaint said. In his private messages on the app, prosecutors alleged, he told another individual, "I'm gonna be rich."

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials seized more than 500 cards being shipped to the suspect's home in September. Customs agents replaced the cards with masks and sent the package to Shabazz, who then griped in an Instagram video that he had been shipped the wrong items. "Look, yo," he said. "I got masks, yo."

Instead of wealth, Shabazz is now facing up to 20 years behind bars on charges of mail fraud and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors accused him of purchasing over 600 fake coronavirus vaccine cards, advertising them on several social media platforms, and distributing them through the U.S. mail.
