Bisping should have hit this **** harder.

I read about this the other day. I was a little bothered when I saw the title, but that went away after reading Luke's description of the events. Assuming it all went down like that, I could totally see a former world champion martial artist reflexively throwing a front kick. Hell, most people would try something if they don't panic freeze.

Probably a bit douche-y to keep calling the homeless lady a "thing" though. She's still a human being.

Anyway, inb4 joke about him needing to blast a homeless meth-head for a win.

I'm going to disagree ST, I know he always backs off down the centre line, however im sure he could have avoided a bag lady.

He was afraid she'd clinch with him. Then he'd do a failed whizzer trip and get clocked on the clinch break like against Jan Blachowicz.

😂 Quite possibly, have you read Bisbinggs book. He states at one point what a good fighter Luke is, and at another he really fleshes out (surprisingly politely Luke's personality), I'm just suprised Luke didn't follow up with Pride style football kicks.

Lmao! I don't blame him at all.

When I lived downtown Ottawa, there were always sketchy people along King Edward street I would have to pass on my way home from work. One night this native woman was on something idk what and she was just yelling on the sidewalk and was trying to push anyone who walked past her into the street. I warned this young couple who came around the corner near her to be careful and maybe cross to the other sidewalk and she snapped on me and just started wailing on me 😂. She was throwing hands at me and kept saying "WHAT B***H! WHAT B***H!" LOL! So I just stiff armed her ass into a snowbank.

This was actually pretty funny too because the girl who was part of the couple was shaken up by her so she called the police and we all waited and watched this lady to make sure she didn't assault anyone else until they showed up. The first cop there was a woman who tried to calm the lady down by talking to her. The woman did NOT give a f*** and started screaming at the lady cop and walking towards her. The lady cop just backed up with her hand out still trying to calm her down when all of a sudden this big male cop just blows past me and runs up, grabs the native woman by the jacket and just like spin tosses her like a sack of potatoes into the snow and cuffs her.

Apparently he knew her and had had to Deal with her many times. She lived at this shepherd's of good hope house for addicts and shit. I really don't miss living in a big city.

Shouldn't this be in the very much ignored Sports Forum?

I haven't read it. In all seriousness though, you may have a point. Outside of MMA, Luke is a moderately accomplished grappler. He definitely could have subdued her less violently than a front kick. Considering the dudes he's knocked out with body kicks, that lady must've been ****ed up pretty bad. Had she not been a "thing" in his mind, I doubt he would have reacted like that. I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he really didn't expect it though.

Yeah, good on y'all for showing restraint at least. 👆 I feel bad because these incidents are used to stigmatized the mentally ill and encourage mistreatment. But yeah, if she's going to keep accosting people, she'll be dealt with. Better it be cuffs than something more serious. A schizophrenic man was beaten to death by police here some years ago. Shit like that seems like an overreaction.

Some other jackass ran through Chinatown late at night beating 4 homeless people to death with a metal bar.

Probably lol

I'm 95% sure the only ones in GDF who follow combat sports are me, Trocity, and Whirly. Hahahaha. And I'm not exactly a regular here.

Should have done some sweet chin music.

We can all sit here and say this and that, or how wrong he was, but until we ourselves are put in a similar situation, we shouldn’t judge to harshly.

Your rational moderation and level headedness only reveals what a coward you are. If you love your country you'll pick a side and lynch someone.

Bro! Im Black, I can’t just say yay to lynching.

What else was the Civil Rights movement for? It says alot about our so-called "progressive society" when a black man can't even lynch his ideological enemies on the internet.

Agreed. I don't follow these sports at all.

yeah got to agree with ST mate, well done on you all for showing restraint. Rockhold though is another level even to most pro fighters, he has a pretty full toolbox and mental people if allowed in the community don't need a guy with his power kicking them.

Yeah he is a relatively rounded fighter, who is just a better striker, he has good skills all round.

A meth head spitting at you is just Tuesday morning here. A guy literally spit at me for not having any meth to sell him lol. I moved out the way. He said he'd kick my ass. I welcomed him to try and he walked off mumbling to himself. Admittedly, it was a dick move on my part to egg him on, but I never started kickboxing with him. He was in kicking distance too.

I've actually seen him there multiple times, and he's generally pretty polite. But, he got a shit roll of the dice and is prone to addictive behaviors. Just wished we had some Swiss-styled rehabilitation centers in America. I wonder how many folks we could get off the streets through programs like that.

And Luke has become known as a bit douche-y in the sport. Maybe he's cool in his personal life, but calling her a "thing" repeatedly doesn't help his case.

There's a Mormon MMA coach and YouTuber named Ramsey Dewey who's really awesome. Not that means you'll vibe with him, but he could be your introduction. Explains things really well and often just winds up giving great life advice lol. And he generally has a wealth of martial arts knowledge and other things, like dance. Unique viewpoint on lots of things.

But the best part is how he politely calls out bullshit lol. And the self-defense voice overs are great.

He breaks down anime/manga fights too.

👆

He started in jiu jutsu. He just happened to be a natural kickboxer too. Although his defensive holes kinda caught up to him later obviously, as Bisping showed us.

Interesting and thanks for sharing that info.

I used to do MMA and actually fought 12 matches. Did really really well (but at that level, there are so many lazy wannabes that winning matches against them is nothing to brag about). I also played football for years. I still don't watch much of either and do not follow either much. I find watching sports kind of boring.

👆 Gotcha. I know several fighters who don't watch. I swear I remember Matt Hughes saying he didn't watch MMA much, even when he was on top.

Dominique Easely straight up said he'd rather watch cartoons and has never watched a football game start to finish in his life. I think a lot of athletes may enjoy doing their sport but not really watching it, other than what they have to study.
