They look to be fairly even skill and ability wise with Malekith having a distinct ranged and offensive capabilities. The reality stone grants insane durability though.
Malekith would literally laugh off an axe strike.
Also, in JL Clark wasn't even trying, compared to Zod and Doomsday Supes was pulling his punches pretty hard. In Thor 2, the final battlen was similar to MOS 1 because single strikes were causing massive area damage.
Cool matchup: two of the most powerful and also the worst antagonists in each superhero franchise duke it out.
Malekith had to have the Aether drained from him for Thor to kill him via teleportation and ship crushing fatality, correct? I don't see Steppenwolf being able to separate him from the Aether with his axe, in which case Mal wins.

Malekith without the Aether was nowhere near powerful enough to require all that. I thought it was done in order to separate him from it? But then again it has been a while since I saw the movie.

Sorry Surt, what I meant was that Steppenwolf doesn't have the teleporter/plot-device rod thingies to separate Mal from the Aether, and if Mal retains the Aether, he should win as Steps can't put him down. However, the realm convergence/alignment thing was happening with the Aether and I don't know how that affected Mal's power levels...IDK. Base Malekith gets torn in half by Steps, yes.
The Dark World was one of my favorite MCU movies, but it's low down on the totem pole now. Winter Soldier and GotG 1 raised the bar pretty high, and the MCU hasn't come down since those two Phase II 2014 flicks.

I was ready to say Steppenwolf stomps, but you gave Malekith one of the infinity stones and it's a powerful one so he wins.
