I did google it and saw several articles from mainstreem outlets that pushed the narrative and others that deined it, but couldn't find any proof of an investigation that either proved/disproved the claim.

It's possible that my google-fu is weak. so, was there an investigation?

I honestly don't know what Arbery was or was not when it comes to his being a criminal. The person McMichael's described seeing on February 11th does seem to fit the description of Arbery, but we don't know for sure that it was Arbery he saw.

It doesn't prove Arbery himself was a criminal, but it does prove McMichael's did try reporting burglaries.

All I know is this new evidence does a lot of damage to the narrative that this was racially motivated cold blooded murder.

And with this evidence I feel like an actual fair jury going by facts not emotions would not find him guilty of murder.

As for your question: if he's a career criminal society is probably better off, but I doubt his family is. Same for the McMichael's.
