It was a different take. We still have the Christopher Reeves and Brandon Routh films if thats more to your liking.
But they had to try something different after Superman Returns flopped. And whatever you think of the film, fact is it was the first Superman film to make profit in a long time. So WB probably made the right call taking that risk.

It was a different take I didn’t like. The Reeves movies are fine (when viewed w. nostalgia), but I also didn’t much care for the Routh movie, which was too slow paced and soap opera-y for me.
Different in this case didn’t equate to better for me (though I at least give it props unlike many), and I’m not alone on that or it wouldn’t be such a divisive movie, that begat such a divisive franchise.
Whatever I think of the film is all that matters, as I don’t see a dime of the profits; I don’t work for WB.
