Moon Knight's use of his power on a cosmic level was so much more then bringing moons to trap Thor but he also had to keep everything safe in there paths while they obviously traveled at faster then light speeds and the effect the gravity would have on everything including the earth which was where this battle happened (on the moon).
He also became an avatar of Khoshnu
Technically speaking if we go off khonsu can control any earthy materials from space it’s not far fetched in the least.
