Why is it people take the Jedi Code literally?

Specifically the line.

"There is no emotion."

Hmm...no emotion huh?

Heeey Obi-Wan, show us your emotionless face.

...Huh....hey Yoda you're the Grandmaster Jedi, show us...

Oh...

Interesting how, people know the Code yet take it literally for...whatever reason...why?

No emotion, no ignorance, no passion, no chaos, no death.

That all went out the window during TCW, lol. The Jedi weren't robots, they were still people... Very fallible people.

Because emotions are strong feelings. And usually bear a negative connotation.

Well even before TCW though. I mean the Jedi aren’t emotionless robots yet people think that they have to be completely devoid of emotions, but the movies don’t show that! Lol.

Even Obi-Wan said in ROTJ. “Bury your feelings deep down, they do you credit, but could be made to serve the Emperor.”

He isn’t saying to be devoid of emotions, just to keep them in check and not go overboard.

Also @FN, I get that but there’s a difference between being an emotionless person and keeping check of your emotions. A lot of people think the Jedi gotta be emotionless drones because of that one line, but the main movies go against this and pretty much all material too.

I mean even Vulcans in Star Trek are not emotionless.

Whilst Jedi are human, so best they can do is keep their emotions in check.

The Code probably goes to an extreme so that Jedi do their best to practice that.

More like that the word "emotion" is used most of the time in negative stance. And represent the strong feelings.
