I’m being re-admitted to the hospital. The infection in my foot took a turn for the worse. Nothing critical, but it needs urgent care and attention before it gets really bad.

Scientology. I don't get it.
So L. Ron Hubbard makes his fortune creating the self help genre, then he tries to sell his schlock as a science but they reject him as a quack, so then he decides to turn his scam into a religion.
What I don't understand is how on earth he attracted any followers after all this? I know people are gullible, but come on! A man hates on religion and sells himself as a scientist, fails, and suddenly his science becomes a religion? Even a rube grandmother would say "Wait a minute..."
I'm just trying to picture who these people are that forgot Hubbard's entire history and bought whatever he was selling.

Originally posted by cdtmI would say Hubbard played on a Mormon riff. If I'm honest, the difference between a cult and a religion is merely numbers. The people who start these things a braver, more immoral and or delusional.
More to the point, what's Hubbard got that you or I don't got?Whirl, why can't you make a scam religion like Hubbard did? He doesn't look so special, not like he's Elivs or super charismatic, yet guys like him scam the world while guys like you and me are considered quacks?
Life isn't fair!
