No, they're not under oath during those confirmation hearings, it's more to get a feel of what the nominee would do if they were appointed to one of the nine most powerful people in the country.

Republican judges just lie and say whatever it takes to get appointed, they act like moderates during the hearings. eg Trump's three judges all said that Roe v Wade was "established law" during their hearings. All three reversed themselves once in power.

If Trump wins, they will undo Same Sex Marriage rights for one.
