Turning off excess lights and unplugging appliances your not using is reasonable. People should do those things at all times of the day. Turning off major appliances full stop is a weird thing to suggest, I agree.

I turn off excess lights cuz...why not? Don't light places that do not need it.

And sure if you have a blender plugged in it's not unreasonable to ask folk to unplug it.

A refrigerator is a major appliance and it is wrong to ask people to turn it off IMO. Also I guess it depends how you define it, but what about a tv? Computer? Are those major appliances?

And what is the recommended time for these things to be plugged back in? The tweet doesn't say.

He's confusing defending a persons right to hold a certain view with defending that view.

To give an example: if Blake thought the moon landing was faked he'd have a right to hold that view and I'd defend that right. It doesn't mean I think the moon landing was faked.
