So is Johnny Depp's career basically over now?
Probably not. Anyone who has actually studied/followed the case knows that Amber Heard is the abuser. There has been some pretty massive backlash from people after he was let go from FB and she got to stay on Aquaman 2.
He also got his full pay for FB, which is sweet justice. I doubt his career is over, but hers probably should be.
Amber Heard definitely abused him she admitted it. So it's hypocritical of Disney to not get rid of Heard too. But then again Disney owns ABC right? And they got rid of Roseanne, but forgave James Gunn. So hypocrisy abounds.
And I'm not saying he will never be in a film again, he just had some film come out I forget the name. But I wonder if we're ever gonna see him in these big franchise films again? Or even just working with a big prominent director. How many A listers will still be willing to work with him now? Even JK Rowling, who previously defended him, just went mute and didn't try to fight them pushing him out.
With all that said: it was stupid to sue for libel. Who gives a f*ck what some rag in the UK says? Nobody cares. Americans don't even care what prominent UK news media outlets have to say 99% of the time.
Honestly, I think he will be in big movies going forward. There have been so many people, including exes, come out and speak to his character, while plenty of people have come forward to say the opposite about Amber(she stole another woman's sexual assault story and claimed it as her own for christ sake, anyone still defending her is a simp or hates Depp for some reason). I know Hollywood can be spineless but there are still prominent celebrities voicing support for him. I think he will be fine.
Amber Heard is a narcissistic sociopath, I think people are starting to wake up to that.
I'm not sure, I don't even know what constitutes A-list anymore. People like Winona Ryder and Penelope Cruz have defended him, I know that. People who worked with him on Pirates also.
I know there are also people close to Amber Heard who have cut ties with her and she is the one they're trying to make out to be the victim. Pretty telling.
I know Winona did, but she is an ex. I dunno she used to be A-list but now...Stranger Things bumped her from D-List to maybe B-List.
Did he date Cruz too lol I lose track
And yeah people close to both have pointed out Ambers shit. And she was arrested before for domestic abuse of her gf back in like 2009.
I'd be shocked if Disney does not eventually drop her too.

It's not hypocrisy.
It's business.
There was enough outcry from Gunn fans that it became bad business.
So all that needs to happen is enough outrcy from the Depp fans.
