A Republican lawmaker in hot water for Islamaphobia comments.
He said pretty much everything you can say, called Omar a member of the "Jihad squad"; attacked the idea of anyone electing a Muslim to office. All indefensible stuff.
I won't pretend to understand what he's even trying to accomplish outside of career suicide, but I do have a related question:
Why is it ok for Israeli's to openly express the sentiment that electing an Iranian mullah to the Israeli Knesset is a stupid idea?
Is that bad like this Republicans ideas are bad, or is it different?

Of course it's wrong, the difference for me is the fact that America aggressively markets itself as this great, multicultural melting pot which is a bastion of hope for anybody from any walk of life, so America is held to that standard more so than a country like Israel, which as far as I know doesn't tell the world to give it its tired, huddled masses.
Basically, I hold America to the standard they ask to be held at.

What a generalisation anyway. When was the last time the governments of Pakistan, Malaysia or Indonesia threatened to conquer "the West"?

But look at Afghanistan. The Taliban is in charge. They want to conquer the west.
Many other countries enable such extremism, if not officially condone it.

Ive never heard the Taliban having ambitions of conquering the West. Though given the West invaded and occupied their country for so long, it wouldnt be unreasonable for them to have those feelings.
And Republicans are also saying fanatical extremist stuff here. But doesnt say much that you need to compare to the most extremist people in the most backward nations, and you still dont look any better (at least in terms of sentiment).
