This seems more like a fundamental reform of what they consider policing, than an abolition. The "Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention" likely will have many police-like traits, possibly also featuring former police officers, but try to shit the focus on policing towards a more friendly relationship with the community. I don't really care about the way they are trying to sell it, but I think we can see in most countries that police do not have to be so militarized and so antagonistic to its citizens as they are in the United States, so there is a lot of improvement.

But some measure of self-defense should be allowed if you feel they're corrupt. Problem is that's hard to prove on the spot or in court.

Or just give cops who kill for no reason a mandatory death penalty sentence, problem solved.

I would honestly go after all the Politicians. Then again, that might not work since those politicians uses the taxpayers money to hire security to protect them.
