Isn't that the issue that he oneshots the Thing while fighting Thor? Yeah Thor has never beaten the real Thanos to my knowledge, and they drove that point home when he demolished the Silver Surfer, and later when he beat up on Beta Ray Bill.

To add to it, Marvel made him him so badass that even with the Power Gem, this level of opponent wouldn't be able to KO him. Which goes to show that Thanos was well above the high herald class.
