I know that DCEU Superman took the first step in killing Zod, but this is the comics of course.

Yeah, they're about equal. I'd love to see a comics continuity switch, where some great force displaces DC and Marvel characters, which places DC characters in Marvel, and Marvel characters in DC. Spiderman in the Justice League would be pretty cool.
