Of course that is a personal decision for everyone, I would say though that perhaps for many the reason they would not go through with it, has less to do with their attraction, and more to do with the way that society views trans women and homosexuality. So for example, I don't think that having sex with a trans woman makes you gay, but many men (and just generally society) do view it that way, and have internalized that being gay is unmanly and something to look down upon. That may still be a valid reason to not go through with it, of course, no one has to have sex with anyone for any reason.

just to remove the "stigma of your peers" variable, lets assume no one would ever find out about the hookup unless you told them.

I'm 100/100 (just a made up number) for correctly guessing when someone is MtF transgender (even if they fully transitioned).

It's MUCH different in person than when you are fapping to photos of MtF porn stars.

Also, from my direct experience, it's much more difficult to tell a FtM who has fully transitioned. For me, it's the deeper voice, facial hair, and muscles. It's very hard to tell in person. FtM have much easier time ("passing"0 transitioning after HRT and top-surgery.

Said all that to say this: it's just not possible unless you're highly unobservant or a closeted homosexual (or bisexual like almost every single human on the planet is) who wants to pretend you couldn't tell.
