God of War 2 (2021)

Yeah...especially considering the last God Of War didn't light the world on fire.
They had move the game into a different direction.

I mean, the world was pretty much on fire at the end of God of War 3. In the literal sense.

God Of War 3 is not the last game. You are forgetting God Of War Ascension.

God of War stopped being good after second PS2 game.

A shittier direction, judging by the last abomination.

Bad taste. Even if you don't like the direction they took with the new game, GoW 3 was great.

Are you joking? God of War is easily top 5 best games of its generation.

3 is just a bloated 2. GoW2 did everything 3 did better, without the padding and stupid elements.

The remake took away every thing that made the series good, and turned it into just another "cinematic" third person action game. It's like they built it on focus groups, like "Ooh, kids checked good in focus. Add a kid."

Kratos the father figure! Give me a break!

God of War lost its identity, lost its edge, lost it's gameplay. This isn't God of War, its a mediocre cookie cutter action game.

Nah, it's better than any game in the series ever has been. 👆

Oh right, so you haven’t played it, gotcha.

I don’t know how you could possibly say it’s game play is unoriginal, and then turn around and praise the PS2 entries, those are totally by the numbers action hack and slashers. You could replace Kratos with Dante, and it’s basically Devil May Cry. The axe mechanics alone are better than anything the prior games have done. Not to mention it’s one of the best portrayals of Norse Mythology.

I loved the new God of War game. Thought it was much better than the other ones. Also had a much more interesting tone than the old games’ “13 year old edge lord” mentality.

Crazy thought: he could be trolling you.

Dude!

Devil May Cry and GoW classic in any way alike? Come ON man! Completely different games.

DmC was all about the "stylish combo's". Some people liked it, some hated it, but that's the main draw of the game, getting those crazy combos for dem orbs.

God of War, on the other hand, was all about the art direction, the brutality, the story. The gameplay was honestly just "ok", it was no Ninja Gaiden Black (Do you think THAT was cut and paste too? 😆 ). Serviceable, if a bit clunky, but looked amazing.

This new God of War removes the art direction to cookie cutter "next gen" environmentals you can get anywhere else, a sappy father/son story with a lame villian, repetitive and samey enemies...

Remove Dante and Kratos from the PS2 originals, and you'd know what they are. Reskin NuGoW, and it could he any other current gen game, you wouldn't know the difference.

Give me any PS2 game to this tripe, the same as any "current gen" game. They're formulaic eye candy built off mass appeal, and take no risks on anything.

That's why Iove Hollow Knight so much. Just about everything is fresh. The art direction is PHENOMENAL. There is absolutely no mistaking it for anything else, its identity is unmistakable. And the gameplay is exquisite.. Somehow, they hit that nail between frustrating and compelling gameplay. Even the worst moments drive you forward.

Nu-GoW on the other hand is as vanilla plain as it gets. It's just disgusting creatively bankrupt.

Like Doom 2016, I hate to say. I enjoy it well enough, and Doom is many things, but cutting edge it is not.

I never really liked the og games too much, but with GOW 2018, although I loved it, it became clear to me that the series definitely sold out to become the videogame equivalent of 'Oscar-bait'.

So gotta have to agree, at least partially, with my friend cdtm.
