I don't know many 'Leftists' that actively support major violence.
I think what gets lost in translation here though is most people aren't surprised that this has turned to violence given the historical context of these situations.
In fact given the nature of the crowd talking about the violence as bad I'm surprised most of them are so confused why there is violence.
After all most of them will often talk about what kinds of things would cause them to be violent or celebrate violence.
