Anyway it didn't appear the writer intended on Surfer experiencing any great forces. Where did the energy and matter originated from before expanding? Most likely outside of the ship and not inside. If that's the case then Surfer could have been in the gap between the ship and everything else.
Even if not then you have the problem of the ship not being damaged coupled with the writer not showing any intention on Surfer actually experiencing a great force at all.
Plus the laws of physics isn't the same in that universe as it is ours.
This is one of those showings that is not meant to be a feat at all from the writer.
