Hmm, it's a funny thing sugar.
The monosaccharide glucose reacts with oxygen to create energy, water and CO2 so you live, but fructose goes straight to your liver unless you eat additional fibre to slow down the process as it's back up sugar. Over consumption of both causes obesity and diabetes. Yes, I do over consume both, but I have very low blood sugar due to the alcohol and B vitamins and vit C help regulate my blood sugar levels, hence why they're my first choice. I should really be eating more fibre though. 😬
Ironically, last time I was in hospital one of the nurses said I had better results than her! So I'm not worried about diabetes.
