What wouldn't be voter suppression? Clearly, photo ID laws are. As are demands for proof of residency, as apparently are any common tactics to establish identity.
I mean, are we assuming no one who votes Democrat can drive a car? Or open a bank account, or take out a loan?
And don't give me the "Those aren't rights" crap, I'm trying to establish just how low you're rating your voters. As far as I can tell, they're incapable of doing anything for themselves, and any demands to do more than show up is "voter suppression".
And even on that Democrats feel they need to call and bus in voters, as I found out working polls. You have no faith in your voting base to function in society, it amazes me.

So you don't want to speak about how hard the GOP made mail in ballots, or how they closed down polls making it harder for urban areas to vote within the designated times.
How they've fought to not make voting day a national holiday.
It's not that democrats don't have faith in their base it's that they are looking at the reality of millions of voters who have difficulty getting these items and getting to polls which is by design from the GOP.
More people would be okay with Voter ID laws if they were actually free and not pretend free with paid prereqs.
Once again you try hand wave this stuff away but it is there in your face. The GOP doesn't want higher voter turnout because it hurts their chances. They are the ones doing most of the gerrymandering at the state level to retain power.
They've even bragged about it in front of courts.

I also think they are a sleight of hand for a problem that is ballooned out by the GOP wanting to make it harder for people to vote.
That being that these laws are here to stop wide spread voter fraud but the evidence doesn't the support that.
So I'm okay with Voter ID laws that give everyone free access to voter IDs but I also don't think we're in such a dire problem we need those specific laws tomorrow.
It's more of a nice to have to me. We need to fix gerrymandering, Russian misinformation, the bad voter ID laws, the fact election day isn't a holiday, and other major issues well before we need free Voter ID laws.
Let's be real here, there is absolutely nothing racist about requiring a voter id to vote... nothing.
Democrats and their voters are against it simply because it makes it harder for them to cheat... period, end of story.
