Eh, I think arguing over fictional character battles is silly. When I was younger I was into that; not so much anymore though. I feel the same way about people who get so worked-up over sports.
I haven't actually read any in years. I use to love reading and collecting them though. Superman comics were always my favorite as he was and probably still is my favorite fictional character of all-time.
You can't get much more American in comics than Superman.... well, except for Captain America maybe but I was never really all that crazy about him, tbh. Spiderman was another one of my favorites as was Justice League comics.
I also collected many graphic novels like Kingdom Come, Dark Knight Returns, Kraven's Last Hunt, Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet, The Great Darkness Saga, and many other classics.
Didn't really get into comics all that much until after I entered into the Navy in the early 90's. It was in my homeport of Norfolk, Virginia (which has the largest Navy base in the entire world) that I discovered several comic book shops while I was out exploring the town for the first time. Just started flipping thru some comics and became fascinated by some of them.
Iirc, that was back during the Todd McFarlane and Jim Byrne days of Spiderman and Superman. Back then, reading comics was very enjoyable. I noticed that nowadays a lot of sjw leftist shit is infecting comics (like it does so much of everything else). That's when I started getting tired of them.

I was talking more about the die-hard fans who get so worked up over it, not actually playing them yourself.
Of course actually playing them is fun.

Yeah it's unfortunate Left wing stuff has infiltrated comics and also the movies.I've been reading comics my whole life and Spider-Man is my #1.
Superman is up there too.
I used to collect comics but I gave that up, expensive, took too long to sort and store.
Digital all the way for me.
It just plain sucks. Where's the grit? The darkness? The tension, the struggle, the drama?
I mean ffs, I still have the golden edition of Star Wars remastered trilogy VHS set that came out in 97. I was like 5 when I got them. Even they, with all the rightful criticism they deserve, are better than the DVD or Blu-ray versions. It's like, stop fixing things that aren't broken!

Speaking of Spiderman, the new SM game on the PS5 looks really good. Not crazy about playing a Spiderman who isn't actually Peter Parker though. Still haven't made up my mind if I'm gonna get it or not.
First I have to get a PS5 itself, of course lol. And those are very hard to come by at the moment. I've seen scalpers on ebay selling them for over $1200.00. That's an insane price.
