Also context is important to what you're saying.

You're saying the debt to person ratio in Canada is too high but here in America it's a much higher number then that.

Also traditionally removing taxes from the government actually sees a spike the debt rate. We saw this with Trump and GOPs' last massive tax cut.

What I meant from the title, is that people are calling to defund the police and I'm arguing that we should defund the Government.

Police, military and prisons are the first ones that come to my mind. Surveillance agencies as well.

That sounds like a good idea.

I'd like to defund the useless Government jobs that exist.

Anecdote: I went for dinner with a co-worker a few years ago and his wife (who works for the Government) with some others and she was telling us how little work she and her co-workers do.

And she got compensated very well.

Did you see minneapolis city council members backtracking and saying they never wanted to defund the police despite over the summer appearing on a stage with a big sign that said "defund the police"?

Yeah, a lot of aspects of government that maybe don’t need to be defunded, could run a lot more efficiently.

I think the police have too much power, we should reform them at least.

Maybe not outright defund them.

I think better training which will cost money is a good idea.

And we need to cut public servant compensation.

It's criminal how much some of them are making, all on our dimes.

They need to be given more money for better training.

And stop hiring fat cops too.

Around here some dude escaped from the cops cuz they were at a mcdonalds drive thru and he asked them to roll his window down so he could spit and then he escaped.

While cuffed. With his legs shackled.

Had to be some fatties that couldn't catch him.

I don’t think they need more money really, they are already by far the best funded organization in most places. They really are overfunded, imo, which is why defunding them makes sense to me. And give some of their huge budgets to other services. And maybe even some tax returns to poor and middle class people.

One of these days a crime will be taking place and someone will go "the SWAT team is on the way" and people will feel relieved until a van of Social Workers And Teachers pulls up.
