The original game received critical acclaim upon release, with critics applauding the game's characters, story, and sound. It was nominated for numerous awards and is considered one of the best video games ever made. A sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, developed by Obsidian Entertainment at BioWare's suggestion, was released in 2004. The series' story continued with the 2011 release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by BioWare.

If they had dedicated a single player experience KOTOR game on xbox 360 it would have blown mass effect away.

I did like the first two Mass Effect games, especially 2. I have never really played 3.

I still prefer KOTOR though. Darth Revan or the Exile could easily slaughter any of the movie or cartoon star wars characters we currently have.

I never got into the Kotor series. Played most of the first game years after it came out but never finished it. Still happy a third one is on the way for those who have been waiting years for it. Hopefully it’s good.

I never liked RPG's but most I saw or played were Japanese RPG's.

KOTOR was the first RPG I basically played (unless you called Deus Ex an RPG)...and I loved it.

Though.... Mass Effect series is the ultimate Bioware game.

KOTOR is like the prototype for Mass Effect. ME VASTLY expanded what KOTOR did, and made it better in every way.
