Not sure if he went insane, but that was Union, one of the most powerful beings in the Image universe. Without the swords, Supreme would've beaten the life out of Majestic. At least back in those days.

Going back to your question, I don't think that I understood it. Were you asking if it was Union that went insane, or when Supreme went insane? Quantum was the one that took Supreme down. Union is the one seen in those scans.
