Likability is by definition opinion based. As is relatability. There’s always someone who’ll be able to make a connection to a character. As far as the thread—it would need to be broken down further IMO. There are some HORRIBLE marvel fans out there and there are HORRIBLE dc fans out there. It’s the nut jobs who go crazy over specific characters that drive me crazy.
But I’ve said all along—fan boys are bad but it’s the anti-fanboys who are the true issue here and elsewhere. Anti-fanboys are spiteful and that spite leads to all sorts of issues. /shrug

You gave me terrible examples. Superman's a living god who struggles to do the "right" thing when he has the power to do whatever he wants. As a result most of the problems he faces are outside the scope of the average person to relate to.
