Why are companies doing so much nostalgia?
So many companies have been pandering with nostalgia is common right now and They have been doing a whole lot of it. They keep rebooting too many cartoons from the 1980's/1990's, reviving old movies with new rehash sequels like Disneys Star Wars sequel trilogy to appeal to long time nostalgic fans. Everthing has to be very desperate nostalgia for these reboots/revivals as the writers do not want to be original anymore.
Are the companies afraid to make new original ideas that are not reboots/revivals of past existing series?.

I think they're incapable of innovating. Most of the companies vdoing nostalgia grabs are corporate megaliths.
Companies of this size lack agility and adaptability.
