Someone fill his shoes. People like Darkseid, Mxy, etc...95% of the time, it takes a team to stop them, including Supes. I would vote either Diana or Captain Marvel filling those shoes. Martian Manhunter is garbage, ain't happening and Supergirl, even after all of this time is still inexperienced.

Strangely enough, I'd imagine that either Lex, or Zod would step up to the plate.

I don't see any one person filling his shoes. A collective or some sort of super team could probably beat most of the villains he fights, but the very, very elite? I'm not sure.

Didn't this happen during 52? And immediately after DOS.

Superman is the center of existence in DC. That is to say, the sum total of creation literally revolves around the guy. It starts with him; it ends with him.

So from a meta standpoint: if he were to disappear from DC entirely, the whole of continuity would crumble.
