Sweet Tooth (Netflix)

This looks so promising.

Sweet Tooth is a fantastic dark fantasy Vertigo title by Jeff Lemire.

Think of it as “Mad Max meets Bambi”.

Never heard of it, will check it out though.

Disappointed, expected this:

The comic ran for 60 issues, so there’s a lot of story to work with.

Tomorrow!

Fascinating

I just finished episode one and it’s f*cking brilliant.

It’s rated TV-14; just one the line of kid friendly and adult themed. Minimal curse words and non-bloody violence.

I’m gonna binge this tomorrow.

Haven't read the comic myself, But Is it as good as the comic?

The comic is Vertigo and is 17+; not overly violent like Preacher and not riddled with profanity like Transmetropolitan, but dark and mature and told through the eyes of a child.

The tv show is light hearted and TV14. Netflix is trying to capitalize on the cuteness of the hybrid children, which is why the tag line is “Based on the beloved DC comic”.

The comic isn’t beloved and while technically is DC, it’s not.

The tv show is going to be in the same vein of the comic but cuter.

I’m three episodes in and I love it.

Ironically, his guardian is a piece of shit and he's who they choose to race swap.

6 Episodes in, it's holding up.

First episode... this kid is too precious it makes me anxious about everything bad coming for him. The guardian guy is cool. Hybrid human animal people just started happening out of the blue? That's kinda weird but ok. Same trope of people being scumbags at the end of the world, tiresome.

it's all made clear, it's that rare thing where all the reveals as the series goes on are linear and you get to expect then. Series finale done 8.5 out of 10. An excellent S.01.

I didn't care for the comic series, but damn, this was a really good show/season. 👆

The sheer amount of thinly veiled references to COVID, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and face masks is depressing.

Didn't the comic series come well before all that?

Watched the rest of it in one shot and now I don't know what to feel.

Biggest impression so far is Humans suck.

This show made me so melancholy but damn if I don't want more seasons of it.
