Republican Elections Commissioner Arrested by FBI on Ballot Fraud Charges
Jason T. Schofield, the Republican Rensselaer County Board of Elections commissioner, was arrested outside his residence Tuesday morning by the FBI and charged with fraudulently obtaining and processing absentee ballots last year using personal information of at least eight voters without their permission, according to an indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court.
Schofield was led into court in handcuffs just after 2 p.m. by three FBI agents, including two who have been pursuing the wide-ranging ballot-fraud investigation since last year. He entered a not-guilty plea as a half-dozen supporters of his sat behind him in the courtroom. The proceeding concluded with U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart releasing him on his own recognizance with no objections from the U.S. attorney's office.

Lawsuit: MAGATard Group Hacked Poll Workers' Database
A defamation and computer fraud lawsuit filed this week against Texas-based True the Vote asks a judge to essentially determine whether the "election integrity" group's campaign against a small election vendor constitutes slanderous lies or a participation in criminal acts. The suit was brought by Konnech Inc., a small elections logistics company based in Michigan.
It alleges that True the Vote and its followers launched a stream of false and racist accusations against the company's founder, forcing him and his family to flee their home in fear for their lives, and damaging the company's business. The suit cites True the Votes' public claims that it hacked the company's servers and accessed the personal information of nearly 2 million U.S. poll workers.

Michigan Elections Worker Charged with Two Felonies
An election worker in a western Michigan town has been charged with two felonies after inserting a flash drive into a computer containing confidential voter registration data during an election in August, local officials said on Wednesday.
At the August 2nd primary, an election worker was seen inserting a USB drive into the computer used to administer the election at a precinct in Gaines Township in Kent County, according to a statement by county clerk Lisa Posthumus Lyons.
Chris Becker, the county's prosecuting attorney, said he had charged the election worker, James Donald Holkeboer, with falsifying election records and using a computer to commit a crime. If convicted, he could face up to nine years in prison.
James Donald Holkeboer was nominated by the GOP as an alternate precinct delegate in April.

Mark Andrews filed suit against Dinesh D'Souza on Wednesday, insisting D'Souza and his collaborators falsely accused him of ballot fraud by "combining junk pseudoscience and excerpted surveillance video of innocent voters" in his May 2022 documentary.
"In fact, the video of Mr. Andrews shows him legally dropping off ballots for himself and his family, a voting method expressly authorized by Georgia law," it states. A state probe found that Andrews had committed no wrongdoing, and dismissed a complaint filed against him as a result of the documentary in May.
Also named in the suit are the founders of True the Vote, which funded D'Souza's film.
Wow, professional liars lied. What a shocker.

After a chaotic day of testimony on Thursday, a federal judge in Texas found Catherine Engelbrecht and Gregg Phillips—known as leaders of the group True the Vote—in contempt of court.
They are facing accusations of defamation and computer crimes from a company at the center of a viral right-wing social media campaign engineered by the conservative voting organization.
The judge informed the pair they would face jail time if they do not comply with the terms of a court order by Monday at 9:00 a.m. "I expect both defendants to be present," said U.S. District Judge Kenneth Hoyt, a Ronald Reagan appointee, looking at their table. Marshals, he said, would be ready to arrest them.

GOP Stunt Gets Election Commissioner Fired, Criminal Charges
Milwaukee Election Commission Deputy Director Kimberly Zapata fraudulently requested military absentee ballots and sent them to Republican State Representative Janel Brandtjen to support her claims of widespread election fraud.
Brandtjen is a Trump supporter who called for decertifying Wisconsin's 2020 presidential election result, and continues to promote election lies. Last week, she shared a photo of the falsified ballots that had been delivered to her home.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson announced yesterday that Zapata had been fired. "This is an egregious and blatant violation of trust," Mayor Johnson said. "I was stunned, absolutely stunned, to hear the very serious allegations against her."
Democrats are calling for criminal charges against both Zapata and Brandtjen.
