What if they placed him in a room that emitted red sunlight? Dr. Doom can use the Crimson bands of Cytorrak too.

Red Sun doesn't automatically depower him and aunt may could break those bands

We’ve seen Superman operated after being weakened though.

Best I can think off was Morrison’s new 52 Action Comic where Superman was being attack in the present and future, while weakened from K-nite, while fighting a being that becomes more powerful the more you think of him.

And that Superman wasn’t even his most powerful.

Every last one of them and he's not breaking out.
