Because he's old-school military–industrial complex Democrat. Democrats are absolute warmongers as much as mainline Republicans.https://www.factcheck.org/2019/09/bidens-record-on-iraq-war/
"Twice in the last five weeks, Joe Biden has claimed that despite voting to authorize military force against Iraq in 2002, he opposed the Iraq war from “the moment” it began. That’s not accurate, and Biden now says he misspoke."
Trump, on the other hand — and don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of the man one bit — was pretty mild on foreign policy, i.e. the great tradition of American state-sanctioned imperialist terrorism, as far as it goes. The one thing I was vaguely impressed by in terms of Trump's presidency was how comparably anti-interventionist he was compared to Obama and especially ****ing Bush.
I know he came in with an anti-war message, but not pulling out of either war in 4 years, and then starting shit with Iran (which would be the most likely pick for another war), and then arming Saudi to bomb Yemen…. It all showed he got way too comfy with the military complex himself.
However I know Biden voted for the Iraq war, which is why I am Genuinely surprised myself that hes doing this, and in his first year no less. And I dont think it was even a campaign promise!
But it also proves Trump had no excuse not to pull out of even 1 Country, especially when he had a full term in office to do so. So all that anti-war rhetoric was BS in the end.
