If I were to guess, it is because most police officers are conservative Republicans, and they were violently attacked and almost murdered by their own. It must be a crushing realization that Blue Lives Matter was not something their compatriots actually believed, it was just a slogan they used to beat black and brown people with, in the same way that they are patriots insofar as they used American flags to beat cops with.
