PS4 controller not working in game

Hi, I’m not sure if I can post this here in this section, in case ok add some mod just delete it. Basically all of a sudden my PS4 controller stopped working in game. It still works fine on the ps main menu, but when I start a game it goes dead. After reading some guides online I found out my R2 button is basically stuck, as if I always kept pressing it. I disassembled the controller and cleaned the rubber contact piece below the R2 trigger with a cotton swab + alcohol, but when I assembled it back I found out it still doesn’t work. Should I have done something else? Cleaned some other parts? 90% of people apparently Fixed it after cleaning it, so I dunno what to do

Time for stupid questions:

-How many games have you tried it with?
-Are you using it with a PS4 or PS5?
-Is it an old controller?

It's also very possible that the mechanism for the R2 button itself is borked, and may not be fixable.
