😂 I know its bread and circuses but I was indoctrinated by my dad and grandfather from a very early age! 🙁
Tennis was always considered a sport for the elites actually. So knights jousting might be more apt.
The Williams sisters are such a big story because they proved someone from humble beginnings can dominate the sport.
It's a shame to see their star slowing sinking in their old age, but their mark on the sport of tennis is undeniable. Serena in particular is the women's Roger Federer.

Fresh blood is a good thing.
I see Serena lost to an Italian. I haven't followed tennis since Federer finally got his grand slam.
When Nadal could not attend, amusingly. Roger claimed he felt he could have won even if Nadal was there, he was in total denial. 😂
Originally posted by cdtmYeah I'd never heard of her before the last week. I'm not a big Tennis fan, I'm shit at playing it too. But I always follow Brits in sports. Bread and Circuses! An amazing story this one tbh.
The final sounds epic. A literal coin flip, multiple break points, Fernandez appears to have made her work for every point. From a 150 ranked unknown, I'll give Emma Raducanu mad props.

It was a good match but Radacanu won in straight sets, she didn't drop a set in the entire tournament in fact, including the qualifying matches. She did quite well at Wimbledon too, only dropping out at the QF stage I think due to illness. Not to say she would have won the whole thing, but people took note of her in that tournament.

We really are the most athletic nation per capita. I had the tennis on this evening and **** me Emma Raducanu won the bloody US Open! She is only 18. Damn good thing Prince Andrew won't be meeting her any time soon!
Great news 👆
Didnt watch but wish I did the way everyones over the moon about how exciting it was.

Tennis is one of the few sports I actually like but let's be real here, the only reason pooty posted this thread was to take a cheap shot at USA because it still upsets him that USA >>>>>>>>> UK.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, America sucks! blah, blah, blah, blah, UK rules! blah, blah, blah, blah.
Brag all you like about whatever athletic superiority you erroneously think you're country has over mine.
I don't give a flying f*ck about that trivial shit even if it were true. What I care about most is individual and states' rights. And when it comes to individual liberties my country puts your sorry ass country to shame, limey. 🙂
