Who has the best track record against Superman?

The thing here is that Billy isn't a Captain. Shazam fits him well. I mean, he's a goofball.

I disagree, Billy was known as Captain Marvel from his inception in 1939 up to 2010 before DC's stupid move, the character wasn't always portrayed as a goofball and "Shazam" is the name of the wizard who gave him his powers.

Screaming "Shazam" in order to summon the magical lightning and it being the wizard's name are more than enough reasons *not* to call Billy the same way.

I find it hard to believe they couldn't come up with anything else.

I completely agree, you know what popularized the character with so many non comic readers was the saturday morning live action TV show which was entitled 'Shazam', although they called him Captain Marvel in-story and announced him as such in the opening credits of the show, but unfortunately the ignorant by choice attention tend to fixate on catchy cliches instead of truly listening to everything, and if you ask them what is the hero's actual name most of them couldn't answer you with anything other than "Shazam"........the dumb asses, for some reason it was very annoying.

If they felt the need to re-name him to avoid confusion with Carol Danvers then they could at least have tried going back to his very original name of Captain THUNDER, would have made a lot more sense, aw well.

It wasn't about avoiding confusion, I think they just couldn't legally use the name anymore. At least I believe that was the case.

You're right, some will always be ignorant, there's that Legend of Zelda game series (never played, but it's quite popular) --- its main hero is Link, yet many call him "Zelda", simply because that's the series' name.

Zelda is the princess in that game. Important character, but not the main protagonist controlled by the player.

Thought I would mention it, as it goes perfectly with what you said about the Shazam saturday show.

Yeah, but I had read somewhere that avoiding confusion with Marvel character was the reason that they changed his name, guess that's immaterial now, I know that actor Jackson Bostwick who played CM in that Saturday morning show was himself disgusted with the whole thing, to build on the point that we're making here.......people used to refer to the 'Beverly Hillbillies' TV show as "GRANNY".........Lol.

You are very obsessed with Shazam.....do you like him, in a sexual manner?
