I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, I could've quite happily watched another episode or two. Dragon CGI looked kinda cheap in a few shots though.

Apparently that came from GRRM himself.

See the kind of shit he spews out when he doesn't take his time.

Yeah, especially when the way the secret is handed down from ruler to heir wouldn't work with the way succession works, particularly in Westeros with the Targaryens.

Are the Targaryens an incest family at this point?

Cos Daemon wants to **** his niece Rhaenyra.

Aegon the Conqueror literally married both of his sisters so yes, lol.

Incest was extremely common, borderline enforced, in Old Valyria among its nobility.

Yes. If they go by the lore there's some odd/creepy relationships to come. Her friend who goes to see king Viserys is the 1st episode ends up being her step mother. It's Alicent Hightower's son to Rhaenyra's father, King Viserys I who challenges Rhaenyra for the throne that starts the Dance of Dragons that Shireen Baratheon tells Davos about in GoT.

She shags half the realm including her uncle. Lannisters, Tyrells, Tullys, Tarlys, Strongs, Oakhearts before she marries a Velaryon who prefers the còck.

liked the first episode. looking forward to the rest of the season.

and as someone who has never read the books (and never will) what i really want to see now is a show about aegon's conquest. that would be epic.

Reading hurts? 😄

Or you're just not looking forward to start a series that's not likely to ever be given a proper ending? 😂

mostly because that's just a lot of very DENSE reading to try and jump into, and i just dont have the drive or the time for it these days.

aegon's story is really all i'd be interested in reading about, but i probably wont lol.

Just read The World of Ice and Fire and Fire & Blood.

So, reading hurts? 😛

It's not difficult to absorb at all; certainly shouldn't be for someone with The Merovingian as his avi, my friend 😉

Books are better written and make more sense than the show.

this is an audible which i will start to listen to next week... it'll take me a month to finish im sure

Episode 2 was better than 1. It is still a bit shit though. God the Princess is an ugly hobbit.

yeah i can't put my finger on it, but something about her just looks off.. like she has a touch of downs or something.

but if rhaenyra is supposed to be a product of centuries worth of inbreeding, then it makes sense why she was cast.👆

You mean the Targaryen girl? I thought that too until I saw an interview with her when she looks normal and she's fairly hot TBH. I think they went out of their way to make her look proto-human or something. She does look like The Golden Child on the show though.

second eppy was just okay, HOWEVER a few things were predictable namely when

Spoiler:
Vicerys proposed marriage to Lady Alicent
and
Spoiler:
Corlys meeting and joining with Daemon

Well I enjoyed it. Loving the originality of the gorey bits. The crab feeder as an example. Or poor Paddy Considine having to film scenes with his hand stuck in a bowl of maggots 😆.

They're also doing a decent job of ratcheting up the tension even when the dialogue can seem a bit derivative and cheesy. "We are the 2nd sons. Our status is not gifted. It is made" or whatever he said.

I like the politicking. The sly glances when seemingly innocuous but highly loaded statements are made. Lots of passive aggression.

Started reading up on the Dance of Dragons, there's a whole lot of incest f**king and incest babies.

Do wonder if they'll have a large time-jump in this series, or save that for later.

Agreed.

Solid character, plot and world building so far with only two eps in. Here's hoping they don't shit the bed.

Definitely time jumps this season because Rhaenyra is played by 2 different actresses. Milly Alcock currently and Emma D'Arcy later in the season.
