What if...?: Virological Outbreaks

Considering the massive amounts of misinformation across social media and the rise of the anti-vaccine and anti-mask movement: what would happen if a coivd-like virus appeared in the United States, but with a mortality rate of 80%; that spreads as easily as Covid-19, but a vaccine was made available at super-duper 'warp speeds' and it offered 99% protection to all ages/groups?
