Ballerina (John Wick spin-off)

Started by Patient_Leech3 pages

I watched "Wick is Pain", the documentary on the making of the franchise. It's cool, for anyone who likes behind the scenes stuff. Keanu is a monster and his collaboration with Chad makes the series what it is. I didn't know that Chad doubled for Brandon Lee to finish up The Crow after he died. He was friends with Brandon Lee. So there are shots in the film of Chad, obscured by lighting and angles, I guess. Crazy.

One of my worries is that obviously De Armas won't have put anywhere near the level of dedication Keanu has into training in both hand to hand and firearms and it's his commitment that's helped make the action so intense.
This could end up more like that shitty Hawkeye spin-off, Echo or Batfleck level of awful choreography.

^^^Hailee Steinfeld was great as Kate Bishop.

Ana's dabbled in the action genre:

Jeez, yeah, if so that is definitely a concern.

From clips I've seen it looks like she spars with Keanu. So yeah, it will look weird if Keanu is holding back too much. But I suspect they put in the training to make it work. Keanu is a perfectionist, so I'm sure he wouldn't let her slow him down.

After a good opening scene it gets slows and kinda boring for a bit, but once the action starts, this is a fun blast to the end. I also went in expecting a trash heap.

The plot is cookie cutter weak, the dialogue mostly stupid, but the action is turned all the way up, some fight scenes were very Wick-like, some absurb to the point of funny, but still thoroughly entertaining.

Regarding Ana De Arma's ass, she looks like she worked her ass off (literally) to get in shape for this role.

Yeah, I figure I'll enjoy this one more at home with some HDR.

I went to a Samsun ULED at home this last TV upgrade, can't ever go back. I know we've spoken before.

^stop bragging about your TV

F#ck you, Robtard!

Nope, she is a thing of wonder and beauty.

This was bad. Pure action no acting. The only thing that was interesting was the dad, who played Matthew Broiden in Discovery of Witches.

Watched this and liked it pretty well.

Not mainline John Wick, but still pretty good. Keanu wasn't really needed in the film, much, honestly. In fact their fight was pointless. He should have just said get it done by midnight without fighting.

I hated the stupid f#cking Evanescence song during the credits. They suck so badly. Which would have been one thing, but a song title like "Fight like a girl" is way too on the nose. F#cking stupid.

But there were definitely some nice kills and the flame thrower fight was great.
