Rumour has it Smith and Rock have had a feud for a long time since The Fresh Prince days as Smith has always been the more successful being in films, TV and music whereas Rock only gets voice over and stand up.
This would explain "you keep my ****ing wife out of this" as it's between them and not his wife. I guess Smith wouldn't have had a problem if Rock attacked him, but attacking his wife with her medical condition is a bit much.
